Vietnam’s first international conference will also be held simultaneously by the MOIT, the Vietnam Food Association, and a number of rice companies and international experts, aiming to promote the country’s rice production industry.
According to the MOIT, the conference is a great opportunity for the development of Vietnamese rice as the country is focusing on building rice brands and improving the quality of exported rice.
With the participation of foreign rice importers, distributors and merchants from major markets such as China, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Africa, Europe and Mexico, the conference promises to bring many opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises.
The conference, which lasts from October 10 to 12, is expected to see the attendance of 500 - 600 invited guests from key rice exporting and importing countries, large rice trading companies and rice experts.
In the first eight months of 2018, Vietnam exported 4.4 million tonnes of rice worth US$2.2 billion, up 6.8% in volume and 22.1% in value compared with the same period of last year.
The price of rice exports averaged US$507 per tonne in the January-July period, up 14.8% year on year.
