VTV.vn - At the ongoing 85th Interpol General Assembly in Bali, Indonesia, 190 Interpol member countries agreed to apply the I-Checkit system - a secure method for screening travel document information.

Accordingly, the I-Checkit system is allowed to be implemented in the maritime sector following a three-month pilot program on four of Carnival Corporation's Princess Cruises brand ships. The trial included 34,000 travel documents that were successfully checked against INTERPOL's Stolen and Lost Travel Documents database, containing over 69 million records from 175 countries. Prior to this, I-Checkit was applied by AirAsia airline.

With the application of I-Checkit, businesses in transport, banking and tourism sectors in any Interpol member countries can detect the use of fake documents in illegal transactions based on Interpol's database. Vietnamese delegations at the event, led by Senior Lieutenant General Le Quy Vuong, Deputy Minister of Public Security, affirmed that Vietnam will research I-Checkit and put the system into use in the coming time.
