The memorandum is expected to further strengthen the television cooperation so as to meet the needs of culture and information exchanges between the peoples of Vietnam and Laos; contributing to the strengthening of the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

Bosengkham Vongdara, member of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Central Committee, Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Lao PDR; Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Ambassador of the Lao PDR to Vietnam; Bounchao Phichit, General Director of Lao National Television Station attended the signing ceremony.

On the Vietnamese side, Nguyen Manh Hung, Member of the Party’s Central Committee, Acting Minister of Information and Communications; Tran Binh Minh, Member of the Party’s Central Committee, President of Vietnam Television; VTV’s vice presidents Nguyen Thi Thu Hien and Dinh Dac Vinh; representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the event.

"Vietnam Television and the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism of Laos and the Lao National Television have long established a close and effective cooperation  through staff training for the Lao National Television, assisting LNTV to produce news bulletins and building transmission stations in Champasak and Oudomxay provinces as mandated by the Vietnamese government, supporting Lao National Television in covering international events” - said Tran Binh Minh, VTV’s president. “With the signing of this MoU, Vietnam Television is committed to developing a detailed plan for the cooperation between the two national broadcasters in 2019"- Tran Binh Minh added.

On this occasion, the Lao Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Bosengkham Vongdara thanked the Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam and Vietnam Television for assisting their Lao counterparts for common  development.

Under the Memorandum, the Lao Information, Culture and Tourism Ministry will instruct Lao National Television to increase the weekly exchange of news and reports with the duration of 5 to 10 minutes on with VTV. Vietnam TV continues to support the the broadcast of feature films and documentaries with Lao dubbing or subtitle and will continue training and fostering the capacity of LNTV staff.
