Dong Ho folk painting, or Dong Ho folk woodcut painting, is a type of Vietnamese folk painting and a traditional craft that was created and developed by Dong Ho villagers in Thuan Thanh district in the northern province of Bac Ninh.
There are seven main types of Dong Ho paintings. They're for worshiping; congratulating; depicting historical events; telling stories; teaching proverbs; showing landscapes, and portraying daily life.
Dong Ho folk painting was recognized as a national cultural intangible heritage in the traditional craft category in December 2012. However, it now runs the risk of falling into oblivion due to the impacts of the market economy.
Vietnam has earned UNESCO recognition for 17 world cultural heritages of which 12 are intangible.
