Many countries around the world have been trying to find ways to prevent false information from affecting national security. Vietnam is one of the countries that have actively coordinated with tech companies such as Google and Facebook to eliminate false information and rumors that aim to tarnish individuals and organization's reputations.
At the sector's year-end review meeting, Minister of Information and Communications Trương Minh Tuấn said that in the past year, Google has partnered with Vietnamese agencies at the request of the Ministry, and has prevented and removed about 4500 out of 5000 malicious video clips on YouTube. Facebook had also removed 107 fake accounts, and 159 accounts that frequently made slanderous remarks about Vietnamese leaders, the Party and the Government.
