Vietnam’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has marked the day with a theme “water and jobs” focusing on how the quantity and quality of water can change workers' lives and livelihoods – and even transform societies and economies. It is predicted that two-thirds of the world's population will be living in water-stressed conditions by 2025 so sustainable development is an urgent global need. In Vietnam, the vital role of water has become top concern amid the on-going severe drought and saltwater intrusion in many regions of the country.
