Vietnam receives over 2.6 million doses of Pfizer vaccine donated by the US

VTV.vn - An additional 2,633,670 doses of Pfizer vaccine donated by the US through the COVAX mechanism have arrived in Vietnam to help the country with the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the US Diplomatic Mission to Vietnam.

Of the total, over 1.3 million doses arrived in Hanoi on October 24 and over 1.3 million doses arrived in Ho Chi Minh City on October 25.

This is the sixth time the US has presented COVID-19 vaccines to Vietnam through the COVAX mechanism, raising the total number of donated vaccines to 12.1 million doses.

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the US pledged to provide Vietnam with over US$30.2 million to cope with the pandemic.

The country provided Vietnam with online training courses for medical workers, an information system to serve in the rapid distribution of vaccines to provinces, COVID-19 testing equipment, vaccine preservation equipment, ventilators, and others.
