The US Federal Register published a draft proposal to recognise Việt Nam, China, and Thailand as maintaining their eligibility to export these products to the United States as proposed by FSIS.
In the draft recommendation, FSIS recognised the catfish inspection system in Việt Nam, China, and Thailand as equivalent to the US system. If this draft is approved, these three Asian countries will officially be allowed to continue exporting catfish to this market, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
The consultation process for this proposal will last for 30 days from the date of publication on September 14.
