The event is a joint effort of The Voice of Vietnam and Association of Japanese traditional culture development to promote Japan-Vietnamese relations. Over 60 Japanese Chanoyu, Ikebana, and Kimono artisans attended the event.
Japanese flower arrangement, or Ikebana is a familiar concept to Vietnamese people, but opportunities to watch it live are rare. At the event, Japanese Ikebana experts skilfully arranged Vietnamese bamboo branches to form a gigantic flower basket.
"Bamboo is familiar to both Vietnamese and Japanese people. Artists from Japan hope to make their own performance out of Vietnamese bamboo and flowers. This cultural activity strengthens similarities and co-operation between the two countries", said Ngo Minh Hien - Diretor, International Co-operation Department, Voice of Vietnam.
Participants had a chance to observe Chanoyu performance. Various kinds of Japanese tea and Wagashi cakes and the traditional Kimono dress were also introduced at the event.
