VTV.vn - The 60th Business Forum was jointly held by the Embassy of Vietnam in Japan and the International Friendship Exchange Council (FEC) in Tokyo, Japan, on December 9.

The event attracted the participation of representatives from 20 Japanese enterprises.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador Vu Hong Nam highlighted Vietnam’s efforts to further integrate into the global economy, its socio-economic achievements in the recent past, and, most notably, its curbing of the spread of COVID-19.

The ambassador underlined that despite the pandemic, two-way trade between Vietnam and Japan declined only slightly in the first 11 months of the year, to US$35.9 billion.

Vietnam shipped items worth US$17.3 billion, down 6.5%, while Japan posted export revenue of US$18.6 billion to Vietnam, up 4.8%.

Vietnamese Ambassador Vu Hong Nam also called on Japanese businesses to invest in Vietnam, especially in the country’s prioritised fields, such as electronics, agro-fishery processing, environmental technology and energy saving, agricultural machinery, shipbuilding, and automobiles and spare parts.

For his part, FEC President Matsuzawa Ken expressed his hope that the forum will help Japanese companies tounderstand more about Vietnam’s business and investment climate, thereby strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation in economy, trade, and investment.
