Under the scheme, each EVN customer will be given a QR code containing their profiles at the utility company to the standards set by the State Bank of Vietnam.
When paying their bills, customers only need to scan the code, enter the amount and the transaction will be completed instantly, without having to remember their customer numbers.
The QR code can be saved on a smartphone for convenience.
The introduction of QR codes for paying electricity bills is the latest move by EVN in its digital efforts to enhance business productivity and customer service.
The company rolled out electronic billing to all of its customers in 2015 and introduced electronic contracts for electricity purchase contracts and power service contracts in December 2019.
In December 2019 EVN also began to provide all of its online power services on the National Public Service Portal.
Last March, the company announced the new form of its electricity bills which is easier to understand and more convenient for customers.
To date, EVN has partnered with more than 30 banks, 10 intermediary payment organisations and nearly 10,000 electricity retailers to help with collecting electricity bill payments.
