According a report presented at the conference, after three years, the Fund for the Poor and the social security programme has mobilised over VND13.9 trillion from enterprises, organisations and individuals from both at home and abroad.

Secretary of the Party Central Committee and VFF President Tran Thanh Man spoke highly of the efforts and involvement from the central to local levels in the work of caring for needy people.

He emphasised that in recent years the VFF at all levels have exerted efforts in calling on people from all walk of life, economic sectors and overseas Vietnamese to join hands to care for the poor.

The VFF President also requested that the VFF, at all levels, have a firm grasp of the number and situation of the poor in localities in order to strictly implement the management and use of the fund in accordance with the provisions of the State. The allocation and support must ensure fairness and objectivity, he added.

A plan to visit and present gifts to needy people on the occasion of the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday in 2020 was also discussed at the conference.
