The Malaysian Grand Prix dropped off the calendar after last year's race but Formula One bosses have talked about expanding in China.
There have also been talks with Thailand to host the sport but they have not pushed through. Currently, Vietnam is an important emerging market, which could provide a boost for this opportunity.
By hosting the Grand prix, this will be a chance for Vietnam to promote its image to the world.
