After 20 years of development, ASEM now has 53 countries members, representing about 62% of world population and accounting for 57% global GDP. ASEM has recorded remarkable achievements in promoting an equal partnership and multifaceted co-operation between the two continents.
"All the initiatives and co-operation mechanisms should focus on enhancing and bringing practical benefits to people. We should also give more encouragement to young enterprises so they can contribute more. Their potential to create new ideas will contribute to ASEM development and bring practical benefits in people’s daily lives", said Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affaires Pham Binh Minh.
Many representatives shared the same point of view at the event. Entering the third decade, ASEM is focusing on renewing and enhancing its operations, turning the Asia-Europe relations into practical and effective co-operation.
This is one of Vietnam's efforts to improve the level of co-operation within the Forum and to contribute towards improving the efficiency of Vietnam in ASEM. Vietnam has been an active member in ASEM over the past two decades.
