On Wednesday, Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung and Thai Minister of Labour General Sirichai agreed to pilot allowing Vietnamese to work in Thailand’s manufacturing and service sectors for a five-month period. If all goes well, the two countries will sign an agreement to open the labour markets further. The deal will also include regulations such as a 15 USD 2-year visa for Vietnamese workers. The move is intended to cut the number of Vietnamese illegally working in Thailand.
