Vietnam Coffee Day 2019 kicks off

VTV.vn - The third Vietnam Coffee Day 2019 officially kicked off in Pleiku City, Gia Lai Province, on December 9.

The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the Vietnam Coffee - Cocoa Association and Vietnam National Coffee Corporation Ltd; 200 enterprises in the coffee industry from across the country; representatives of foreign coffee businesses such as: International Coffee Organisation (ICO), China Coffee Association (CCA) and member enterprises; theSoutheast Asia Coffee Federation (ACF) and the Brazilian Coffee Exporters Council; and Ambassadors and foreign trade counselors to Vietnam.

Addressing the ceremony, Kpăh Thuyên, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Gia Lai Province and Head of the organising board, said: Vietnam Coffee Day is not only an opportunity to exchange and meet with growing and processing enterprises, as well as coffee-trading businesses at home and abroad. This is our first time organising a programme of mixing and enjoying, promising to bring deep feelings about the quintessence of Vietnamese coffee, cultural identities and thehospitality of the people of the Central Highlands, which is dubbed the capital of the coffee tree.

Taking place from December 8 to December 10 under the theme "Coffee enjoying culture", the 3rd Vietnam Coffee Day is expected to continue in promoting the brands of coffee of the provinces in the Central Highlands in particular and the country in general, contributing towards raising the value and affirming the position of Vietnamese coffee in the world market, and to honour coffee growers and processors.

According to the organising board, this year's programme emphasises consumer appreciation culture and has organised in a series of events: the exhibition space features 111 stalls of prestigious coffee brands from six large coffee-growing provinces of Vietnam: Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Dak Nong, Lam Dong, Kon Tum and Son La; the introduction of coffee products, coffee varieties and some typical local agricultural products;typical rural industrial products; food stalls; exhibition booths;and free coffee booths

On the occasion, the delegates will have a chance to visit factories that are models of sustainable coffee development.
