After joining the World Trade Organisation in 2007, Vietnam opened it's retail market and attracted foreign brands such as Germany's Metro Cash &Carry, France's Big C of France, South Korea's Lotte, Japan's Aeon and 7-Eleven and the latest brand is France's Auchan , Europe's top retail group.
"We'll open more malls in Vietnam. It's estimated that each mall can cater for around a million people. Therefore we hope to open ten more malls each in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. We look forward to this development". According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, there will be around 1,200 to 1,300 supermarkets, 180 malls and 157 shopping centres in Vietnam by 2020. It is no surprise if Vietnam's retail market attracts more investment in the near future.
