This was the message that emerged from the committee’s first meeting, convened in Moscow on November 5-6. Vietnam Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Chu Anh Ngoc and Russia Deputy Minister of Education and Science Veniamin Kaganov attended the event.
At the meeting, the two sides discussed the potential and plans for strengthening cooperation in education, science and technology in the future. The two deputy ministers underscored the importance of science and technology cooperation in the comprehensive collaboration between the two countries. The meeting is considered a starting point to concretise the strategic partnership that was created in late 2014.
"We are very excited about Russia's reforms to enhance science and technology education. The science and technology sector of Russia also focuses on the application and commercialisation of research results, which are the same goals the government of Vietnam is working towards", said Chu Ngoc Anh, Deputy Minister of Science & Technology.
Deputy Minister Chu Ngoc Anh noted that Vietnam is currently implementing reforms on education and the amended Law on Science and Technology. In recent years, the two sides have worked to foster cooperation in higher education, especially putting into practice agreements on training Vietnamese citizens in Russia signed in 2013. The two deputy ministers agreed to promote the teaching of the Russian language in Vietnam and vice versa.
