VTV.vn - The Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and China Southern Power Grid (CSG) marked 20 years of cross-border electricity trading at a ceremony held in Lao Cai City on December 6.

Ngo Son Hai, Deputy General Director of EVN, highlighted that the partnership began in 2004 with 110 kV transmission lines in Lao Cai, Ha Giang, and Mong Cai.

Over two decades, the cooperation has grown to include four 220 kV lines, with a total electricity exchange of 42.3 billion kWh, ensuring a stable energy supply and fostering economic growth in border regions.

Li Zhixiong, Chairman of the Vietnam-China Power Investment Company, expressed pride in the partnership’s achievements. Hoang Quoc Khanh, Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People’s Committee, praised its role in driving Lao Cai’s socio-economic development, improving infrastructure, and enhancing the quality of life.

The event included cultural exchanges, a gala dinner, and a tree-planting ceremony at the 110 kV Lao Cai substation, symbolising the lasting connection between the two corporations.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the partnership, which not only supports energy needs but also represents the friendship and sustainable development between Vietnam and China.
