VTV.vn - The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines on November 17 held a ceremony at the Noi Bai International Airport on the outskirts of Hanoi to welcome the first of its 20 A321neo planes.

The deployment of the planes, to be fully delivered by the end of the next year, is part of the airline’s strategy to upgrade its fleet following its recent reception of the most modern types of Boeing 787-9 and Airbus A350-900.

Vietnam Airlines CEO Duong Tri Thanh said the reception of the A321neo plane marks an important milestone in the company’s unceasing development and service improvement. He expressed his belief that the A322neo planes will further boost the business of the carrier, especially in domestic routes and those in Asia.

For his part, Airbus global trade director Christian Scherer said that with its ability to save 15 percent of fuel, this type of plane will surely bring competitive advantages to Vietnam Airlines over others.

With the inclusion of the A321neo plane, Vietnam Airlines has become the first carrier in Vietnam to apply new technology of the world with the equipment of the wireless streaming system.

Currently, the national flag carrier boasts a fleet of Airbus planes with 58 A321ceo, 3 A330 and 12 A350-900. Its planes of all types will total 110 by 2020.
