The other three aviation companies are Air Asia, Lion Air, and Garuda Indonesia.
Regarding market share, Vietnam Airlines surpassed Singapore Airlines and Thai Airways to become the second largest SEA airline after Garuda Indonesia. Vietnam Airlines carried 20.6 million passengers in 2016, 19% more than the previous year. This was the largest increase in passenger growth in the region. Vietnam Airlines has won several prestigious awards, including the Golden Brand at the 2016 Vietnam's Favourite Brand Awards, and top 10 effective ASEAN Businesses in China awarded by the China-ASEAN Business Council.
