The target was set in the Vietnam's tourism development strategy by 2030, with a vision to 2050, made by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST).
Accordingly, the numbers of foreign arrivals and domestic travellers are expected to reach 32 million and 110 million, respectively, by 2025.
Tourism will be a real spearhead for the economic sector with a competitive market in the country by 2030. Vietnam has become a special and attractive destination, belonging to the leading nations with developed tourism in the Southeast Asia.
The tourism industry will be developed in a professional, high quality and effective manner. The sector will focus on expanding the markets and improving the global competitiveness of Vietnamese tourism.
The strategy also aims at sustainable and responsible development of tourism on the basis of green growth, while linking tourism development with preservation and promotion of national cultural values and identities.
It also highlighted the effective management and use of natural resources, the protection of environment and biodiversity, and aproactive climate change adaptation; as well as a settlement forissues related to employment and social welfare, and the assurance of defence, security and social order and safety.
According to the MoCST, Vietnam received 8.4 million foreign visitors in the first six months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 7.5%.
