Victory Cup 2019 : Coach Park Hang-seo and Vietnam’s U22 National Football team win big

VTV.vn - The Korean coach had just receive an important encouragement before the decisive match against the Korean U23 footbal team in the U23 Asian group stage.

The awarding ceremony of the Victory Cup 2019 – considered the Oscar of Vietnamese Sports, was held on January 15. The award is aimed at honoring the best athletes, coaches and teams after a year of competitions.

This year's award is the first time the Best Foreign Coach category was introduced by the Victory Cup Organizing Committee. The coach of Vietnam National football team Park Hang-seo was the winner in this prestigious category when surpassing coach Huang Guo Hui (Chinese nationality - swimming) and Coach Kim Su Bin (Korean nationality - archery).

In 2019, under the guidance of Coach Park, Vietnam’s U22 National Squad brought home the first male’s football gold medal at the Southeast Asian Games after 60 years. Park also guided the Vietnam National Soccer team at the 2022 World Cup qualification where the squad has performed excellently - standing at the top of Group G and the chance of reaching the third qualifying round is huge.

With these achievements, the coach Park deserved the title of Foreign Coach of the Year at the Victory Cup 2019 Award.

Along with coach Park Hang-seo, Vietnam’s U22 soccer team was also honored at the Victory Cup 2019 when it was voted Team of the Year. With the gold medal of SEA Games men's football after 60 years, Vietnam U22 soccer team is absolutely worthy to be honored at the Victory Cup 2019.

Trong Hoang, on behalf of the Vietnam U22 soccer team, received the award from the Organizing Committee and wished the Vietnamese U23 football team to play well in the match against the Korean U23.

In addition to coach Park Hang-seo and Vietnam’s U22 soccer team, many other excellent athletes and coaches ... were also honored at the Victory Cup of 2019.

Accordingly, 19-year-old swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang defeated heavyweight rivals in football and archery to win the Best Male Athlete award in 2019. Last year, Nguyen Huy Hoang won 2 gold medals, 1 bronze medal, broke 2 SEA Games records, among other achievements.

Meanwhile, female swimmer Anh Vien was voted the Best Female Athlete in 2019 for winning 6 gold medals at Sea Games 30.

The Victory Cup award is organized by Vietnam Cable Television Corporation (VTVcab), Viet Sports Content Joint Stock Company (the administrator of webthethao.vn ) and the General Department of Sports and Physical Training. This is the 5th year the award is held.
