The state leader praised the important contributions made by the hospital to the care and protection of people's health, reflected in the proportion of people participating in health insurance at the hospital at a very high number, with a total of 256,000 cards.
Vice President Thinh also visited and presented gifts to patients undergoing treatment at the hospital, as well as inspecting the medical facility’s examination and treatment area and its high-tech digestive centre.
Also on February 26, Politburo member and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education, Vo Van Thuong, attended the 64-year anniversary of Vietnamese Doctors’ Day and the inauguration of a special medical examination building at the Hanoi Huu Nghi (Friendship) General Hospital of Hospital.

At the event, Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien said that her ministry approved the project to build a general medical examination complex at the hospital in 2015, with a scale of 600 boarding beds at a total investment of VND234 billion. The construction started in 2016, targeting to improve the quality of medical examinations and treatment at the Friendship Hospital.
Also on Tuesday, Minister Tien joined delegates and doctors at the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology to inaugurate a new building at the hospital built in order to ease overload pressure.
The 500-bed building belongs to a project to renovate and expand the Hanoi-based hospital. Its construction started in December 2009 at a total cost of VND350 billion. The 11 storey facility has two basements and a floor area of 1,700m2.
On February 26, a delegation from the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education, led by its Deputy Head Nguyen Thanh Long, visited and congratulated doctors at the Bac Giang provincial Obstetrics and Paediatrics Hospital on the occasion of the 64th anniversary of Vietnamese Doctors’ Day.
