This was President Maduro’s first Vietnam visit since he took office in April 2013, and the second-ever state visit by a Venezuelan president to Vietnam, after the two countries formally established diplomatic ties in 1989.
At the talks with State President Sang on Monday, President Maduro said that the Venezuelan government gave special importance to this visit and had worked out an ambitious working plan to boster bilateral ties in all areas. He said that Venezuela was interested in the lessons that Vietnam had drawn from 30 years of Renovation, particularly in agriculture, consumer goods manufacturing and trade.
Following their talks, the two state leaders witnessed the signing of a co-operative agricultural agreement for 2015 to 2018 period.
