On November 17, in Thai Nguyen Province, the University of Agriculture and Forestry (Thai Nguyen University) organised a ceremony to mark its’ 60th anniversary and receive the Government's emulation flag. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent baskets of flowers to the university. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam praised the great contributions of the University of Agriculture and Forestry in the socio-economic development of the mountainous midland region and the whole country.
Up to now, the university has trained nearly 100 research students, more than 3,000 graduate students and over 44,000 engineers and bachelors; 50% of which are ethnic minorities. The school has received honorary titles from the Party and State.
The University of Agriculture and Forestry was urged to develop to become a place to train high-quality agricultural and forestry cadres and create a source of leaders, managers, especially ethnic minority officials for localities and the whole country. At the same time, the school was also asked to become a center for scientific research on agriculture and forestry; consider scientific research and technology transfer as breakthroughs, as the foundation and future of the school.
A programme aiming to honour teacher’s silent contributions and supreme sacrifices, took place in Hanoi on the evening of November 17. The event was attended by Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam.
According to Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha, the programme featured the participation of 183 typical teachers representing millions of teachers across the country who have made silent contributions to the education industry.
Speaking at the event, Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam expressed deep gratitude to all generations of teachers. According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the basic and comprehensive renovation of education sector is an extremely important task that should be carried out continuously over a long time, with a scientific roadmap, meeting the trends of the world and Vietnam's actual conditions.
Therefore, in the coming time, the education sector should renovate teaching methods and arouse the creativity of each student, especially in mountainous, ethnic minority, remote and isolated areas, he added.
On the morning of November 17, in Hanoi, National Education Union of Vietnam coordinated with the Ministry of Education and Training to organise a ceremony to honour "Teachers of 2019".
According to the representative of National Education Union of Vietnam, along with the excellent teacher reward, 2019 is the first year of presenting the "Teacher of the Year " title.
At the ceremony, 183 typical teachers from 63 provinces and cities across the country were awarded Certificate of Merits by the Minister of Education and Training with the logo "Teacher of the Year 2019".
On the same day, many activities aiming to honour outstanding teachers of Hue and Hanoi were also organised.
