Various activities commemorate Vietnamese Teachers' Day

VTV.vn - A range of activities have been held across the nation to celebrate the 36th anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, which falls on November 20 each year.

On November 17, Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh joined teachers and students at the Marie Curie High School in Ho Chi Minh City to celebrate the school’s 100th anniversary.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy PM Binh, who is also a former student of the school, urged the facility to promote its good traditions and achievements and continue to improve the quality of teaching and innovation in learning methods, while building a friendly educational environment in order to provide comprehensive education for students.

The same day, in Phu Tho province, Politburo member Nguyen Van Binh, who is also Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Economic Affairs, paid a working visit to Hung Vuong University.

The senior Party official expressed his wish that Hung Vuong University would be active in cooperating with domestic and international educational facilities in order to develop into a multi-disciplinary university to train high quality human resource, serving the socio-economic development in Phu Tho and for the whole northwestern region.

Politburo member Bin also joined the leaders of Phu Tho province to attend the opening of the banking and finance master's degree programme at Hung Vuong University, congratulated the university’s teachers on the occasion of Teacher's Day, and visited Hung Vuong High School.

On November 17, the Hanoi authorities reviewed the five-year implementation of Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW dated November 4, 2013, by the 11th Party Central Committee on the "fundamental and comprehensive renewal of education and training, meeting the requirements of industrialisation and modernisation in the context of the socialist-oriented market economy and international integration" in the capital city.

Praising the efforts made by the city’s education sector in implementing the resolution, Hoang Trung Hai, Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi municipal Party Committee, asked the city’s authorities to pay more attention to the effective implementation of the State management over education and training, while improving the effectiveness of education regarding to ethics, lifestyles and life skills for students, as well as enhancing school safety, building a school culture and promoting a healthy, democratic and disciplined school environment.

The Hanoi University of Industry celebrated its 120th anniversary on November 17. With more than 30,000 students enrolled every year, the school has offered roughly 10,000 engineers, bachelors and technicians to the market. At present, the school has three training institutions with nearly 1,500 officers and lecturers.

On the same day, Thua Thien - Hue province held a meeting with local teachers on the occasion of the 36th Teacher's Day. At the event, outstanding teachers were honoured with an emulation flag and Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of Education and Training for their outstanding achievements in the movement of "innovation and creativity in teaching and learning" during 2017-2018. Other outstanding individuals and collectives with high achievements in the academic year 2017-2018 were also granted a Certificate of Merit by the Chairperson of Thua Thien - Hue People's Committee.

In Dong Nai province, Dong Nai Children's House inaugurated two amusement parks for children at Hieu Liem and Ma Da Kindergartens on Saturday. The facilities worth VND150 million were sponsored by a local business.

Dong Nai’s Nguyen Huu Canh High School celebrated its 20th anniversary the same day, while Le Quy Don College held a ceremony to kick start the 2018-2019 school year and present diplomas to 61 graduated medical students who are staff at Trang Bom district Medical Centre.
