Taiwanese defense ministry said that the U.S. ship had sailed north through the Taiwan Strait in its freedom-of-navigation voyage and that it had monitored the mission. The US also said that the U.S. Navy will continue to conduct freedom-of-navigation patrols wherever international law allows. China has always considered this 180km-wide strait as a strategic sea route and regularly criticizes the US for sailing through it.
