Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent a document to request the Ministry of Industry and Trade resolve the issue. The recently signed EVFTA would require more attention to be paid to textiles and supporting industries. But investment seems to be experiencing difficulties as EVFTA is strict about cloth origins. A Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association representative said the license is worth granting provided there is a modern waste water treatment system. To meet 45% of the cloth demand in 2020, the sector needs to produce an addition of 1.7 billion metres. It will take 10 billion metres of cloth to meet 65% of the demand in 2025.
