VTV.vn - U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrived at Noi Bai International Airport on October 29 to begin his official two-day visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh.

They will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United States. The visit is also aimed at reaffirming the strength of the comprehensive partnership of the two countries and discussing issues of mutual concern in the East Sea and in the Mekong region.

During his Vietnam visit, the U.S. Secretary met Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and Minister of Public Security To Lam. He conveyed his condolences to the people in the central provinces for the serious losses and damage caused by floods and storms.

He also stressed that the U.S. always supports ASEAN's centrality in Southeast Asia and wishes to promote the strategic partnership between ASEAN and the United States and the substantial development of the partnership between the Mekong countries and the United States.
