He made the announcement just about an hour ago, at a joint news conference with Vietnamese State President Tran Dai Quang.
"I can also announce that the United States is fully lifting the ban on the sale of military equipment to Vietnam that has been in place for some 50 years" - US President Barack Obama.
"Vietnam very much appreciates the U.S. decision to completely lift the ban on lethal weapon sales to Vietnam, which is the clear proof that both countries have completely normalized relation." - Vietnam State President Tran Dai Quang.
During US President Barack Obama’s visit to Vietnam this time, Vietnam and the US have agreed to strengthen comprehensive partnership in a more effective way. Both sides have also agreed to take development as the focus for bilateral relations.
