During the expedition earlier this year, the experts discovered the 12 in limestone mountain areas in Bo Trach, Quang Ninh and Minh Hoa Districts.
Accordingly, Bo Trach District now possesses three caves, including Doc Co (554.6 metres in length), End Cave (51.5 metres) and Dry Vom (413 metres).
The four new caves in Quang Ninh District are: Nuoc Ngam (3,872 metres), Nuoc Lan (1,919 metres), Hung Thoai (460 metres) and Coincidental Cave (100 metres).
The expedition also found five caves in Minh Hoa District: Three Horned Viper (194.8 metres), Phu Nhieu 4 (2,012 metres), Cha Ra (314 metres), Thoang Lip (137 metres) and Ma Lon (463 metres).
They are all extremely spectacular and pristine with underground river systems. There were no human footprints found in the caves.
Following Son Doong, the 12 new spectacular caves are expected to help the Quang Binh provincial tourism sector attract more visitors in the near future.
