Experts have pinpointed the increase in catches as a contributing factor. The total production of key regions such as Phu Yen, Binh Dinh and Khanh Hoa has reached the 10,000-ton mark. This represents a 7% increase year on year. The increase in production has allowed businesses to export whole fish or make canned products. Others have attributed this export success to the recovering demand from American, European and Japanese markets. The total number of export markets for Vietnamese tuna now stands at 79. Many experts still believe that there's still plenty of room for improvement and exploitation in the tuna industry.
