In response to the International Day of Forests on March 21st, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hoa Binh Province, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, and the US Agency for International Development (USAID) launched a tree-planting ceremony with the theme ‘Forests and human health’ in Hoa Binh province.
It is part of the Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation project, which is funded by USAID.
During the event, about 1 million Acacia seedlings, 192kg of high-quality Acacia seeds, and 1,000 local trees were handed over to 400 farming households in the locality so they can expand forests and develop the forestry economy. The project also provides technical support to ensure that after about 10 years, these vacant lands will become productive forests.
