Top legislator extends Christmas greetings in Hue

VTV.vn - National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan visited the Archdiocese of Hue on December 22 to extend her Christmas greetings to local Catholic leaders and followers.

At the Hue Archbishop’s Residence, the top legislator praised the contributions of Vietnamese Catholics to the country’s achievements in containing Covid-19 and maintaining economic growth in 2020.

She underlined that the government recognises the Catholic community’s role in promoting healthcare and education as well as in reducing poverty.

Ngan affirmed that the state always respects and ensures the people’s religious freedom as enshrined in the Constitution and reinforced in the Law on Belief and Religion.

She expressed her hope that the Archdiocese of Hue and other dioceses in Vietnam will continue contributing to society through meaningful activities and strengthening national solidarity.

For his part, Archbishop Nguyen Chi Linh thanked the parliament leader for her visit and affirmed that the Catholic Church will strive to build a peaceful and developed society as desired by all Vietnamese Catholics.
