Creating favourable environment for enterprises in new normal: Deputy PM

VTV.vn - Creating a favourable environment to help the business community soon recover, rise up, and regain the momentum of development in the new normal state is the top priority of the Vietnamese Government in running the macroeconomy this year.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh made the remarks at the Annual Vietnam Business Forum (VBF) 2020 entitled “Challenges and opportunities in the new normal” held in Hanoi on December 22.

The Deputy PM attended the event along with leaders of several ministries, sectors, localities, international organisations, domestic and foreign business communities and business associations such as the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham), the American Chambers of Commerce in Vietnam (AmChams), the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (KoCham), Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (JCCI), and others.

Deputy PM Minh valued the role and importance of VBF, an event held annually to create a continuous dialogue between the Government and business community. The event also demonstrates the Government’s efforts to improve the legal system and business conditions to promote the development of the private sector, facilitatethe investment environment, and contribute to sustainable economic growth in Vietnam.

He emphasised that the VBF has put forth many valuable initiatives in the implementation of economic and financial policies to meet the needs and expectation of the majority of enterprises, particularly in the current COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the Deputy PM, the new normal state will create both opportunities and challenges, requiring the Government, the business community and the entire society to apply new approaches and measures in operation and policy making as well as in formulating and implementing strategies and plans on socio-economic development, investment and business.

Representatives from the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the association of foreign investors acknowledged the efforts of Vietnamese ministries, sectors and the Government.

They also made recommendations including the implementation of specialised training programmes for technical workers in engineering support industries, the effective implementation of the PPP Law and the Public Investment Law with priority given to transport infrastructure and unfinished projects, the implementation of e-government, and the increase of the number of online public services, among others.

Deputy PM Minh said that the Government will continue to implement drastic solutions to support the business community in the future.
