The Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant has a production capacity of 1,200 MW, with a total investment of US$1.2 billion. The plant is estimated to consume 3.4 million tons of coal and produce 7.2 billion kWh per year.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said that the construction of the factory carries great significance for the nation’s manufacturing industry, as the localization rate of the plant is the highest so far.
The same day, the Prime Minister attended the inauguration ceremony of another thermal power plant under the Son Duong Formosa steel and port complex, also in Ha Tinh province.
