Healthy, Happy, Helpful is a television program dedicated to elderly viewers in Vietnam. Structured as a knowledge-based competition focusing on health, medicine, and pharmaceuticals, the show provides seniors with accurate, practical information to help seniors improve their physical and mental well-being, contributing to the goal of extending healthy life expectancy among Vietnamese people. The programme is produced by the Culture and Entertainment Department of VTV.
After years of entertaining senior audiences, the program enters 2026 with a renewed identity as the “Truong Sinh” (Longevity) version. Beyond delivering medical knowledge, it now aims to provide a space for empathy, acknowledging the emotional concerns of old age and strengthening family bonds across generations .
From “Physical Health” to “Emotional Well-being”
Programs for older adults are often perceived as conventional medical quiz shows. However, the production team has demonstrated creative adaptability by redesigning the entire structure of the 2026 edition.
Each episode is crafted like a comprehensive “treatment plan” that addresses both physical and emotional health. Under the witty yet insightful hosting of Meritorious Artist Chi Trung, health-related topics are explored in a natural and engaging way. The “Healthy Body” segment provides accessible information on recognizing diseases, nutrition, and taking medication properly.
The most distinctive highlight, however, is the “Happy Mind” segment. Aging involves only about physical decline, but also psychological challenges such as loneliness, fear of illness, and difficulty adapting to modern life. By presenting simulated real-life scenarios and incorporating expert consultation, the program seeks to address these sensitive emotional issues, helping elderly viewers find empathy and solutions to their inner struggles.
Filial Love - A Space for Emotional Reconnection
Through a seemingly simple mini-game, Healthy, Happy, Helpful reveals the level of mutual understanding within families in a gentle way. More importantly, the moments that follow provide an opportunity to express unspoken love, heartfelt apologies, and sincere gratitude. These emotional exchanges promise to move audiences deeply, transforming a quiz show into a touching portrayal of family life.
Closing each emotional journey is the “Bright Examples” segment, where real-life stories of elderly individuals living “long, healthy, and joyful” lives are shared to spread optimism and inspiration throughout the community.
The 2026 edition also features the participation of families of well-known artists and public figures, including Meritorious Artist Chieu Xuan, Meritorious Artist Vo Hoai Nam, actor Ha Viet Dung, and MC My Van. Their involvement not only adds freshness and appeal to the program but also offers a relatable perspective: behind the spotlight, they are still children, parents, and grandparents, sharing the same concerns about health and family bonds as any ordinary household.

It is a time when not only do grandparents turn on the TV for health knowledge, but also when families to sit together to watchi, laugh, reflect, and cherish the time they still have with their loved ones.
