The top legislator made the request at a working session with the provincial Party Committee on March 19.
He congratulated the achievements made by the Party committee, authorities and people of Thanh Hoa in 2021.
Accordingly, despite the great impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the province posted a gross regional domestic product (GRDP) growth rate of 8.85 per cent last year. The locality also gained positive results in developing agriculture, industry, services; building new-styled rural areas, improving infrastructure systems, and enhancing Party building.
The COVID-19 pandemic has been well controlled in the province thanks to high vaccination coverage.
While identifying major tasks for the locality, NA Chairman Hue asked the province to accelerate economic restructuring in tandem with growth model renovation, in a bid to create changes in the growth model towards higher productivity, quality and competitiveness of the local economy.
He stressed that priorities should also be given to expanding scales of economic sectors that Thanh Hoa has strong advantages for further development, targeting to turn the province into a major centre of energy, manufacturing and processing in the north-central region and the country at large.
He ordered more drastic measures on safe adaptation and effective control of COVID-19 while ensuring social security, supporting workers to return to work, stabilising people’s lives, and caring for those whose livelihoods were being affected by the pandemic.
