The workshop reviewed investment and trade relation between the two countries in the recent times as well as discussed co-operation promotion in the coming time.
Bilateral trade between Vietnam and Thailand from 2012 to 2015 increased by 40% with total trade turnover of nearly 13 billion USD. The two countries set a target to increase the figure to 20 billion USD by 2020. These were mentioned by Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai at the workshop. Many Thai enterprises at the workshop said that investment environment in Vietnam was very attractive.
The formation of ASEAN Economic Community contributes to promoting the relation between Vietnam and Thailand as it encourages transactions between the two sides. Thai enterprises hope to co-operate with Vietnamese firms to together take advantage of ASEAN market with about 600 million people and total GDP of 3 trillion USD.
Major Thai corporations such as CP, SCG or Bangkok Bank have been operating in Vietnam during the past years. They have contributed to creating jobs and also to social development through socially-responsible projects.
