Thailand’s Iron Chef winner comes to Le Méridien Saigon

VTV.vn - Le Méridien Saigon, the first hotel of Le Méridien global chain of upscale hotels & resorts in Vietnam, will invite one of the most exciting guest chefs from Thailand, Iron Chef Winner Sin Keun Choi (S.K. Choi) from November 9 to 15.

During his stay, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy an inspired four-course Japanese set dinner, as well as an a-la-carte menu at Bamboo Chic restaurant on level 9 of the hotel. Especially, those who are keen on fine cooking may attend an interactive cooking class on November 13 and 14 with Chef S.K. Choi.

Chef S.K. Choi has nearly a decade of culinary experience. Prior to Thailand, he used to work as chef in a number of famous restaurants in Tokyo, Seoul and Las Vegas.

Since 2012, he has been the head chef of Namu in W Retreat Koh Samui, which was voted as Thailand’s best restaurant for two consecutive years of 2013 and 2014. In 2015, S.K.Choi has won the Iron Chef Thailand. He is excellent at combining and twisting the fresh ingredients and local taste with traditional Japanese techniques as a base.

Bamboo Chic is a modern and stylish restaurant serving an artful combination of Japanese-Chinese cuisine fused with European touches.

Open for dinner, the restaurant was well-designed with contemporary and minimalistic concept and offers a stunning view of the Saigon River. Guests can mingle in multiple seating areas around the bar and in front of two wall-to-wall windows overlooking city and river views, while enjoying live music from the house DJ.

Born in South Korea, the Korean chef went to Tokyo, Japan, to pursue his dream of being the best Japanese chef at the renowned Japan Hottori Culinary School. After graduated, he earned experiences working at several established Japanese restaurants in South Korea, Japan and the United States.

Before joining W Retreat Koh Samui, Chef SK worked side by side with the award-winning Chef Akira Back at Yellowtail Restaurant in Las Vegas. Just like his mentor Back who joined the Iron Chef America, SK also participated in Iron Chef Thailand, of which his creations were favored by Thailand’s top food critics and food gurus.
