VTV.vn - Special activities were organized to mark the Thai National Elephant Day on March 13 to honor the animals' longstanding important roles for the country.

In Chonburi province, 87 elephants were made to offer food to nine monks and received blessings at the Nong Nooch Tropical Garden in Sattahip district.

Officials also claimed to hold "the world's largest buffet" for participating elephants. Elephants were national animals and former Thai kings rode them in the past. They also played important roles for the country's defense in past battles.
