According to the An Giang provincial ranger force, nearly half of 17 thousand ha of forest in the province are at the highest fire alert.
The local ranger force has to stay full-time in 200 stations to keep close watch on the forest. Three water reserve areas have also been refilled. In the past few days, temperatures in the region stayed around 36 degree Celsius and humidity below 50%.
Prolonged hot weather dried the forest floor, which can lead to fire at anytime.
