Text message programme launched to pay gratitude to Truong Son soldiers

The event was held jointly by the Truong Son – Ho Chi Minh Trail Tradition Association, the Vietnam Red Cross Society and the National Humanitarian Portal 1400.

Under the programme, which will last until September 24, each message sent to 1404 will make a donation of VND20,000 (US$0.87) for the war veterans.

Addressing the event, Vice Chairman of the Truong Son Association, Major General Hoang Kien said that over its 10-year operation, the association has helped to construct more than 2,400 social houses, present over 3,000 saving books, and thousands of blankets worth around VND200 billion to former Truong Son soldiers.

According to 2019 statistics, more than 2,500 members of the association are still living in difficult circumstances, motivating the association to mobilise further financial support to care for them.

A total of over VND448 million was raised by benefactors and the association’s members at the launch ceremony.

On the occasion, the organising board also presented gifts to families of war martyrs, wounded and sick soldiers, and people exposed to the chemicals, who are working at the association.
