The ceremony was attended by Le Minh Khai, Deputy Prime Minister and Secretary of the Party Central Committee; Nguyen Minh Triet, former Politburo member and former President; Nguyen Tan Dung, former Politburo member and former Prime Minister; and General Le Hong Anh, former Politburo member and former Standing member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat.
The temple of heroic martyrs, people's armed forces and young volunteers who sacrificed their lives on Route 1C is located on a land area of more than 7,400 square metres; sponsored and directly constructed by a unit with total construction investment capital of about 50 billion VND.
In addition, the Revolutionary Historical Monument to commemorate the Youth Volunteers who sacrificed their lives on Route 1C is also being urgently implemented at a total cost of more than 3 billion VND.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai said that the Temple of Heroic Martyrs, People's Armed Forces and Young Volunteers who died on Route 1C in the border district of Giang Thanh is a work of profound political, social, and humane significance, expressing the great affection and gratitude of the Party, State, and people nationwide for the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives on the route 1C.
On the occasion, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Kien Giang Province awarded certificates of merit to two groups and two individuals who have made outstanding and extraordinary achievements in building the Temple of Heroic Martyrs, People's Armed Forces and Young Volunteers who died on Route 1C in Giang Thanh District.
After the ceremony, delegates offered incense to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh and the heroic martyrs, people's armed forces, and young volunteers who sacrificed on route 1C. They also planted souvenir trees in the temple courtyard.
