VTV.vn - Matmo, the fifth storm this year, entered the central coastal region of Vietnam on October 30th, causing heavy rain, strong winds, and high tides.

Initial damages have been recorded in Binh Dinh, Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa provinces.

In Binh Dinh Province, Quy Nhon City lost electricity last night. Strong winds knocked down trees and fences. Four large vessels anchored in Quy Nhon Port drifted out to sea. 48 crew members were working on these vessels. The Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue in Binh Dinh Province proposed the National Committee for Incident, Disaster, and Search and Rescue for emergency assistance.

Phu Yen Province also experienced heavy rain and strong winds last night. Some places were heavily flooded. Trees collapsed and electricity was lost in many places. Local authorities had previously checked the Song Cau area where the storm hit directly. All boats have been moved to safe shelters.

In Khanh Hoa Province, the rain made the surface of National Highway 1 running through Khanh Hoa Province slippery. Yesterday afternoon, a container lost control and crashed into the partition. Luckily no one was hurt. Functional forces were immediately present to clear the line.
