In an episode of the TV show Station of Love, , which aired on April 4 on VTV1, audiences were deeply moved by the story of a compassionate woman who continues to give, despite the hardships she has experienced in her own life.
Born in 1983 in Hai Phong, Nha grew up facing insecurity due to her physical disability and the stigma that accompanied it. Coming from a poor farming family, her education was often interrupted. Yet, through her persistence, she completed high school and pursued vocational training, determined to be independent.
However, reality proved to be harsh. Nha was repeatedly denied employment due to her condition. Rather than giving up, she chose a different path: social work, where she could find her own value and support others in similar circumstances. In 2013, she was elected Head of the Youth Club for People with Disabilities in Hai Duong Province, marking a major turning point in her journey.
Volunteering her time, she travels dozens of kilometers every day to carry out her work. Through this role, she gradually became a vital bridge connecting people with disabilities to organizations and businesses. Empathy and perseverance led her to establish a job placement model for disabled youth in 2014. Thanks to her efforts, more than 250 individuals have secured stable employment, improved their incomes, and gained greater confidence in integrating into society.
Her contributions go far beyond employment support. She has also mobilized resources to build charity houses, deliver aid to disadvantaged families, provide prosthetic limbs for people with disabilities, and assist the visually impaired as well as children with autism. During the COVID-19 pandemic, her image in a blue volunteer shirt, working tirelessly with just one arm at checkpoints and delivering essential supplies to those in need, left a deeply moving impression.
Understanding that awareness is key to empowerment, she has also organized training sessions, career counseling, and legal education for people with disabilities. She believes that legal knowledge is a crucial tool for disadvantaged individuals, enabling them to protect their rights and pursue a dignified life.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Nha's tireless efforts have earned her recognition and honors from many organizations and institutions. Yet more valuable than any award are the positive changes she has brought to the community of people with disabilities. Having once felt self-conscious about her own physical limitations, she has become a strong pillar of strength, bringing renewed confidence and hope to the lives of many disadvantaged people.
