The December 6 episode of Station of Love brought viewers an inspiring and deeply emotional story about Tran Phuong Trang, a Hanonative born with a physical impairment who has always chosen to move forward. Her journey, from a self-conscious childhood to reclaiming her sense of self-worth, became one of the most touching reports ever featured on the program.
Although she was born normal like any other child, Trang faced her first major turning point at just three months old when she was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis, a condition that gradually deformed her face. Despite her family’s relentless efforts to seek treatment everywhere possible, doctors ultimately concluded that she would have to live with her appearance for the rest of her life. It was a devastating reality, especially for a young child.
During her school years, Trang’s mother had to fight tirelessly so that her daughter could attend school like other children. Although Trang was a capable student, her appearance became a major barrier to employment after graduating from a vocational program in pharmacy. To help support her family, she became a street vendor around Hoan Kiem Lake, quietly earning a living under the sun and rain, each step weighed down by lingering insecurity.
Just as life seemed to ease slightly when Trang found a simple office job, hardship struck again when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. The long months of treatment caused her to withdraw further and gradually lose faith in herself and in life.
A turning point came when Trang accidentally joined activities at a club for people with disabilities and learned about the project “I Am Capable”. There, she learned to make handcrafted leather products, small items that opened a much larger door by helping her recognize her own value. The moment she held a product made by her own hands was also the moment her genuine smile returned after many years had passed. “I Am Capable” not only gave Trang a livelihood but also gave her the courage to face the world.
In the program, host Minh Hang guided viewers through Trang's and her mother's journey, from the countless futile medical treatments and heartbreaking moments when a mother watched her daughter being mocked, to the day Trang stood strong again after her cancer diagnosis. Audiences were also deeply impressed by Phuc, Trang’s steadfast companion in the “I Am Capable” project and the first person to witness her remarkable transformation.
Today, Trang not only hopes to live independently but also to become a vocational instructor and an inspiration for others facing similar challenges. The gift that Station of Love presented in this episode served as encouragement for Trang to continue spreading faith and resilience.
The episode “Flowers Bloom After the Storm” left a warm and lasting impression, reminding viewers of the enduring strength of human will. Once again, Station of Love proved that amid the chaos of life, there are quiet stories powerful enough to restore our belief in kindness and in ourselves.
