The event took place in Yen Son district, a key site during the American War. The attendance of the State President highlighted the importance of green policies, protection of the environment and climate change mitigation.
State President Sang underlined not only the productive nature of greater tree coverage, pointing to how they contributed to minimising soil erosion.
Sang called upon people to improve awareness over the need to preserve forests and prevent forest fires, illegal logging and excessive exploitation of forest products.
State President Sang also called upon everyone, from children to the elderly alike, to participate in the tree planting festival, continuing the movement as a positive spring tradition.
The annual event, organised at the outset of the lunar New Year, was initiated by late President Ho Chi Minh in 1960./.
