The festival is held in honour of those who set up the village’s lucrative vegetable business, and pray for abundant crops, happiness and prosperity. It is also an opportunity to introduce special vegetables to visitors.
Festival-goers will have a chance to try their hand at actual farming by ploughing and sewing the land, making beds, planting seedlings and watering fields. The festival includes a boat race, and wishes for fruitful crops, prosperity and security for the local people.
